Hosea, chapter fourteen:
Verse one:
“O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou
hast fallen by thine iniquity.”
The prophet Hosea
filled with the Spirit of God makes a
plea to the children of Israel to return to their
husband. Gomer, return unto me!
There is coming a day
when they will return to the LORD with all
their heart.
Hear the prophets all
yea people! It is prophesied in the
book of Jeremiah the prophet, in chapter
twenty-four, verse six and seven, this promise:
“For I will set mine
eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again
to this land: and I will build them, and not pull
them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck
them up.
And I will give them
an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and
they shall be my people, and I will be their God:
for they shall return unto me with their whole
heart.” [Jeremiah 24:6-7]
Israel is coming back to
the God of this BOOK [the Bible] very soon.
Verse two:
“Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say
unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us
graciously: so will we render the calves of our
lips.”
Turn to the LORD God,
and the LORD God will turn to you. This is a
promise! The Jewish people will return
in the time of trouble at the end of the Great
Tribulation, which is soon coming, and is spoken of
in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter twenty-four.
The event here also, hearkens back to what the
Spirit of God said in the book of Deuteronomy
chapter four, verse thirty:
“When thou art in
tribulation, and all these things are come upon
thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn
to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his
voice;” [Deuteronomy 4:30]
The “if” will go
away, because God intervenes with the pouring out
of the grace of God upon the
house of David. They will return!
This is found in the book
of Zechariah the prophet:
“And I will pour upon
the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:
and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced,
and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for
his only son, and shall be in bitterness
for him, as one that is in bitterness for his
firstborn.” [Zechariah 12:10]
Verse three:
“Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon
horses: neither will we say any more to the work of
our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the
fatherless findeth mercy.”
They will finally learn
that man-made solutions will never fix anything in
life, only the mercy of God can do this.
Further than that, they
will finally have learned that men seeking a
world-wide peace in a utopia of their own
imaginations will never be achieved by the works of
men. That the answers to all the questions of
life are only found through their Messiah, Jesus
Christ.
Lesson learned:
Only Jesus Christ coming to this earth can bring to
them [Israel] this true utopia…the Kingdom
of Heaven.
Verse four:
“I will heal their backsliding, I will love them
freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.”
There is healing
in God’s wings. This beautiful
phenomenon is found for everyone that wants
to see in the book of Malachi, chapter four, verse
two:
“But unto you that
fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise
with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth,
and grow up as calves of the stall.”
Verse five:
“I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow
as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.”
The eye of faith
can see this beautiful, and satisfying scene from a
far off.
Verse six:
“His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall
be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.”
It is as if we are
enjoying walking in the Garden of Eden again in the
millennial reign of Jesus Christ.
Verse seven:
“They that dwell under his shadow shall return;
they shall revive as the corn, and grow as
the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the
wine of Lebanon.”
This will be as heaven
on earth for the people of Israel.
Verse eight:
“Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any
more with idols? I have heard him, and
observed him: I am like a green fir tree.
From me is thy fruit found.”
The only fruit that is
forever satisfying is gained for Israel through a
restored relationship [or remarriage] with God.
Verse nine:
“Who is wise, and he shall understand
these things? prudent, and he shall know
them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and
the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors
shall fall therein.”
The ways of the LORD
are right. Amen!
