The First Epistle of PeterA Daughter of Sara

1 Peter 3:5 “For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.”

1. Trust In God
2. Call Him Lord
3. Do Well

1. Trust In God

Verse five: “For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:”

The only women in the world that will follow Sarah “after this manner” is a true daughter of Sarah.

[A Bible-believing woman is a daughter of Sarah.]

The women that follow Sarah “after this manner” are TRUSTING in God.

They are trusting in God by FAITH through GRACE.

The flesh cannot follow Sarah!

Many women in the flesh have tried but have failed.  Why is this so?  This is so because it will take a BORN AGAIN woman … filled with the Spirit of God to trust in God “after this manner.”

Where are you, my sister?  Where are you in this whole thing?

Now, you may be saying, “Brother St.James, it is easy for you to preach this whole thing about women … because you are not a woman.”

Well, Amen to that, my sister.  But let me answer you by asking you a question.  We do have a BOOK from God, do we not?

Now, if we believe the BOOK [the King James Bible in the English language] then, we need to obey God in whatever HE asks of us.  Is not this fair?

The “holy women” of generations past have set the GOLD STANDARD for all the HOLY WOMEN living today.

The way these women “adorned themselves” showed their subjection to “their own husbands”.

They did not “wear the pants” in their homes.  Amen!  It was the men that “wore the britches”.  The men were in charge in their homes and in their marriages!

Now, this in no way shows the inferiority of a woman.  And it goes without saying that many women are smarter [or more intelligent] than their own husbands.  Amen to that!

Listen to me.  It is not a matter of inferiority [or superiority].  It is a matter of ORDER.  God is a God of ORDER.  HE has put [by DESIGN] the woman in the role of subjection governmentally under her husband, even though she is to be at the side of her husband [or spiritually his equal].

This is all shown so clearly to us by the Spirit of God in First Corinthians chapter eleven in verse eleven: “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.” [1 Corinthians 11:11]

Do you have a believing heart?  You need to ask yourself this.

2. Call Him Lord

The first part of verse six: “Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord:”

The world laughs [mockingly] … when they read verse six.  [They mock this BOOK all the time.]

They laugh with a DERISIVE laugh at this: “Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord:”

They say … “no wife should ever refer to her husband … as lord.”  Really?  Well, the TRUTH here is that only a daughter of Sarah can do this [“whose daughters ye are”].  And she does this through her FREE WILL, mind you.

Now, can I ask you another question?  Am I saying to you that all you Christian wives should be calling your own husbands … “lord”?

Well, what should I say?  Should I not say, even “as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord”?  Would I not be just “lining out” with the Holy Ghost here?

Now, just close your eyes here for a moment, then imagine seeing through your minds-eye all our homes and families … returning to the old paths of “the holy women” who lived “in the old time”.  Revival would be here!  The “old paths” … are better than the new paths!  It is good for a wife to “reverence” her husband.

[Now, I am not … promoting here … the notion of a wife worshipping her husband.  God forbid!  Husbands are sinners!  WORSHIP belongs to God only.]

Again a wife should “reverence” her own husband.  Do not believe me!  Check the veracity of this out for yourself.  This is from God Himself … by the Spirit of God and is found in Ephesians chapter five, verse thirty-three: “Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.” [Ephesians 5:33]

3. Do Well

The second part of verse six: “as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.”

Sisters: DO WELL!   DO NOT BE AFRAID!

What is needed is this.  You need to determine within yourselves … to DO RIGHT!   Bible-believers are told to not be CONFORMED to this old world in Romans chapter twelve.

Verse two, says this: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” [Romans 12:2]

Reverence your husband!  Be a DAUGHTER of SARAH.

Now if what I am saying here … is not of God … then reject what I am saying to you.  You need to PROVE all things!  You need to TRY the spirits whether they are of God.” [1 John 4:1]

Is it God speaking to you, or is it the Devil?

Here is the PRINCIPLE that I am trying to give to you.  Are you ready for this?  Now here it is.

“The Bible-believing Christian needs to determine the spirit of the age in a particular matter, and then, with deliberate action, strike out in the opposite direction in that matter!”

Here is another question for you.  How do the wives in America treat their own husbands?  Well, do I need to say any more?  [The answer is obvious.]

Then, what should you do?  You need to strike out … in the opposite direction in this matter … to the glory of God.

Wives “reverence” your husbands . If you have it within you, then call him lord.

Wives if you obey God in this very thing, [“as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement”] then … God will bless you, and God will bless your homes! Amen!
