The Most Beautiful Woman
"She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" [Genesis 2:23].
Absolutely marvelous, and so beautiful to the eyes: Wo-man "because she was taken out of man," called to be along his side, for she was taken out from his side.
How can this be known? It is in That BOOK! It is in the book that God wrote.
In the English language, it is preserved in the Authorized Version of the Bible of 1611 [commonly called the King James Bible]. It is tried! "The word of the Lord is tried" [Psalm 18:30].
It is pure! "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times" [Psalm 12:6].
Seven is the number of completion. Almost six thousand years ago "God created the heaven and the earth" [Genesis 1:1].
Six is the number of man. Man has had these six thousand years to govern himself under the authority of Satan , "the god of this world" [II Corinthians 4:4], also known as "the prince of the power of the air" [Ephesians 2:2].
Soon the whole earth shall see the seventh millennium. It will be a thousand years of government under the authority of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who will reign over the nations of this earth from Jerusalem. "And it shall come to pass that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles" [Zechariah 14:16 and Revelation 20].
In the book of Hebrews (chapter 1) we learn from God the Father that it was God the Son who "laid the foundation of the earth" and is the one "upholding all things by the word of his power." "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" [Genesis 1:26]. (Note the plural words "us" and "our." It is the first revelation in the Bible of the triune nature of God). God let man "have dominion" over the earth, and in particular, He "put him [Adam] into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it"
ALONE! [Genesis 2:15
]I. In The Garden
The order in the creation is so very important. In all that, God created in those first six days (including Adam), the work would not be complete until He had created the woman. God would not allow the evening of the sixth day to come until He "squared off" with His declaration of Genesis 2:18.
In God's infinite wisdom and intention by a wondrous design, Adam needed to experience loneliness before receiving his help meet. It was to this end and for this reason so that God would have this declared of him. "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him" [Genesis 2:18]. It is the Lord God who "knoweth our frame" and our makeup [Psalm 103:14].
He knew Adam's soul and spirit intimately, because it came from Him. Adam was made in God's image! The Scripture reveals that the "candle of the Lord" was in Adam. "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly" [Proverbs 20:27].
Adam would have to be made to feel his loneliness. This in two ways: "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him" [Genesis 2:19-20].
First: Adam would have to see God's design in the order of the creation by observing the distinctiveness of both "the male" and "the female" in the naming of the creatures before him. Adam pondered much in his heart and was filled with great wonder. "Wow! I am ALONE, I have no counterpart."
Second: It was Adam who received the life vocation of dressing and keeping the garden (not his help meet). "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it" [Genesis 2:15].
Now Adam was in the right place, with a right
heart (before God) doing the right thing (working),
all of which was before the fall of man and sin
coming into the world. Yet all was not good!
"And the LORD God said, It is not good
that the man should be alone."
When
Adam found himself thus, he came to the thoughtful
conclusion, "Oh! Who can go along with me and
who can share the reward of my labor?"
When Adam came to this, God said, "I will
make him an help meet for him."
Now begins the most miraculous surgical operation ever performed on the face of this planet. And who performs it? "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth," [Isaiah 40:22] the omnipotent God who, with deft precision, takes one of Adam's ribs and makes out of that rib a WOMAN. "And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man."
Now Adam wakes up from his deep sleep and coming to, he sees that his fondest dream had come true. The sight of that woman had put a song into his heart! "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man" [Genesis 2:23].
In the next verse, we will see the most basic underlying truth of what a marriage really is. "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" [Genesis 2:24].
In Genesis, chapter 3 is the saddest story ever told. The woman who has no name as of yet is shown to be the one most vulnerable to the onslaught of the deceptive work of the Devil. She becomes the focus of the attack in Satan's attempt to destroy God's perfect earth. The way to ruin what God had done was through the woman. The way to destroy the man was by going through the woman. To get to God, Satan had to get to Adam. To get to Adam, Satan had to go through the woman.
It has always been done the same way many times since. The trick is performed in this fashion: just raise doubt about what God has said. That is the bottom line. "And he said unto the woman, yea, hath God said?" [Genesis 3:1]. Yes, once the doubt came, a lie she would swallow. She was deceived. "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression" [I Timothy 2:14].
Also in Genesis, chapter 3 is one of the greatest love stories ever told. The woman is now coming to Adam. (Now we have it. The scene is set). Adam sees the woman of his life, the woman he loves with the forbidden fruit in her hand, but it's too late. She has already taken of it.
For Adam, it is now instant recall. He remembers the commandment: "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" [Genesis 2:16-17].
Adam immediately chooses to die with his wife. He would rather hearken to his wife than obey God. Why would he do this? The answer is easy. Adam loved his wife [see Ephesians 5:25-29]. Never did he want to be separated from her, nor lose her.
He chose "open-eyed" to join her: "And he did eat" [Genesis 3:6]. "And Adam was not deceived", his was a deliberate choice. He chose the woman and not God. "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread , till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."[Genesis 3:17-19]
II. After The Garden
Adam chose to disobey God, to keep his woman, and he pays the price with the "sweat of his face" until he returns to the ground (death). Sin comes into the world. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" [Romans 5:12].
The sad end for mankind had come, and God pinned it on Adam (not Eve). For only by Adam could sin and death come. It is in this: God made the man first. ("For Adam was first formed, then Eve.")
And it was God Who gave Adam the job of dressing and keeping the garden. And it was God Who gave Adam (not the woman) the commandment "saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."[Genesis 2:16,17].
Not only did Adam and Eve die, but the whole creation died. "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." [Romans 8:22] With no "fix" or remedy (but one glimpse) in sight, God drove out the man from the Garden of Eden. YES! "One glimpse" of God's redemptive plan was shown in what He said to the Devil. ("And I will put enmity between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel" [Genesis 3:15].
This would point Adam and Eve (and every man, woman and child ever since) to the first coming of Jesus Christ, Who is the Son of God and the Lamb of God.
Further, this reference to Satan having his head bruised is somehow linked to Jesus Christ's second coming to this earth with His saints. "And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly" [Romans 16:20].
There it is! The Gospel in its embryonic form given almost six thousand years ago, just as the spiritual darkness was rolling in, (the result of Adam's sin). And what is this gospel that is fully revealed to us six thousand years later?
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" [I Corinthians 15:1-4].
Now let me ask you a few things. Are you saved? Have you believed this Gospel of Jesus Christ? Have you put your trust in the shed blood of the Son of God? Well, have you? Then if you have trusted Jesus Christ for His salvation, I say AMEN!!!
Let's sum up Adam's belief concerning Eve.
To Adam, Eve was the most beautiful of God's creation. To Adam, Eve was the most beautiful woman. You say, that is easy! She was the only woman in the world! I say, so what!
No matter how many women there are in the world (even billions), any husband worth his salt would be as Adam, concerning his own wife. Every husband should have the opinion that his own wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. But now if we were to ask God, who would He say is the most beautiful woman? What would He say? His BOOK does reveal who she is. But wait! Before we identify her (and the Bible does reveal who she is), it may well be wise to find out who God says is the most ugly woman in the world. One does not appreciate the light but for the darkness!
III. The Ugliest Woman
Let us go to the Book of Proverbs 9:13-18 to see this ugly woman, and who she is.
1. She is a foolish woman. "A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing" [verse 13]. A foolish woman is easily known.
2. She is loud, and is repeatedly talking loud, and is found pouring forth many complaints and making many out-of-line demands on others [verse 13].
3. She is without wisdom (simple) [verse 13].
4. She is idle (not working with her hands). "For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city. To call passengers who go right on their ways: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell." [Vs.14-18]
5. She is bold [verse 15].
6. She is a flirt and impure in her thoughts, words and actions [verse 15-17].
7. She will lie [verse 17].
8. She will hurt others (verse 18). "So is a fair woman which is without discretion" (according to Proverbs 11:22).
9. She is a strange woman (according to Proverbs 5:3).
10. She is contentious. "The contentions of a wife are a continual dropping" [according to Proverbs 19:13b].
Therefore, she is the most ugly woman! Every decent, God-fearing father and mother will take the time to teach and warn theirs sons and daughters how ugly this type of woman is. The classic text for this is found in God's word in Proverbs chapter 5.
Here the father is imploringly teaching his son about wisdom and understanding. He wants his son to have discretion concerning the “strange woman." She is the ugliest woman in the world.
"My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray."
When I think of the fruit of this woman, my thoughts turn to Athaliah, the daughter of Omri. What a sweetheart she was! [I am just kidding!]
According to II Chronicles 22:10, “she destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah." Her own family she destroyed. "Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands." [Proverbs 14:1].
Such is a wicked woman. She is an example of possibly the most ugly (or wicked) woman that ever lived.
I can think of yet another, and even more wicked woman. Jezebel!!! Wow, what a name! Loud and bold (or clamorous) was Jezzy. "Jezebel slew the prophets of the Lord" [I Kings 18:13]. Her husband, Ahab, received the greatest promotion and encouragement to do wrong a wife could ever give. This was to bring down forever on his head, the distinction of being the most, wicked king who ever lived. "But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up."
What a woman! She stirred him up "to work wickedness."
We have the modern-day equivalents shrouded (and not so very carefully) in the midst of the "rights movements."
Brethren, remember the times we live in. We are living in the last part of the "church age" which is characterized by the spirit of the Laodicean church found in the book of Revelation. "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" [Revelaton 3:16,17].
Dead religion, in conjunction with material wealth (materialism) breeds "the rights movements." Every high-sounding, so-called, moral plea for "equal rights" is only the veneer. Below the surface we find the real thing. It is the old wicked heart of men and women rejecting THE BOOK and the GOD Who wrote THE BOOK!
A hero of the feminist movement, Mary Edwards Walker was only 16 years old (1848) when she began to discard her skirts for the full trousers of men in order to promote "women's rights."
"She wore her hair in curls, in order, so she said, that everybody would know that I was a woman." "All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits" [Proverbs 16:2].
She never did marry. Her sad life was not used to the honor of Jesus Christ, nor ever was in subjection to THE BOOK. Later in her life (1897), she founded a colony for women called "Adamless Eden", and wrote a book called Unmasked, or the Science Of Immorality.
Listen, friend, if you are honest about it, check out the history of the "rights movements" and you will "unmask" the truth about what it is all about. Listen, ladies! Stay out of even the least of it . It will only be a road that will lead you away from God and ruin your family (and your marriage).
The natural direction of the "rights movements" is in total opposition to God and His Book. It is not progress! It is decadence in full bloom. The feminist is not a beautiful woman. She is an ugly (or wicked) woman. Remember, the bottom line, the most ugliest (or wicked) woman according to God's own word is shown in Proverbs 5 and 9:13-18.
IV. The Most Beautiful Woman Identified
Now we are ready for the answer to our question of who is the most beautiful woman in the world. Are you ready???
The identification of her will be first made, and then we will find the description of her. The clear and exact identification is found in I Peter 1:6;
"Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are."
This is her identity. She is a daughter of Sarah. She is the daughter that comes by faith [being justified by faith. See Romans 5:1]. Look for yourselves and see how she is described in Proverbs 31:10-31. "Who can find a virtuous woman?"
Look at her. There she is ... the most beautiful woman ... is a virtuous woman, and look at her price, "for her price is far above rubies."
Now how can this be? If the price of a virtuous woman is far above rubies then, who could be found to pay for her? Well, I will tell you who could pay for her. Jesus Christ paid for her! (Get excited, and whoop and holler around the room). With what did He pay for her? This virtuous woman was redeemed "with the precious blood of Christ" [I Peter 1:19].
This virtuous woman has been declared righteous by "the righteousness" of another [Romans 5:18]. Amen! Amen! This daughter of Sarah has been "quickened" [Ephesians 2:1] or "born again" [John 3:3-7] by the Spirit. She has been “purified”! "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren." [I Peter 1:22]
V. The Description Of The Most Beautiful Woman
Let us look at the description, at how the most beautiful woman is described by God:
1. She is a crown to her husband. "A virtuous
woman is a crown to her husband"
[Proverbs 12:4].
2. She is the safe repository for the heart of her husband. "The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil" [verse 11].
3. She always builds up (or promotes) her husband. "She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life" [verse 12]. "Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land" [verse 23].
4. She works hard with her hands (industrious) for her family. "She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens" [verse 13-15]. "She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff" [verse 19] (There will not be much opportunity here for long painted fingernails!!!) "She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates" [verse 27, 31].
5. She is market wise. "She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard" [verse 16]. "She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night" [verse 18]. "She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant" [verse 22, 24].
6. She is a giving person (hospitable). "She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy" [verse 20].
7. She is an achiever of noble goals in the face of opposition. "She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet" [verse 21].
8. She is a woman that fears the Lord (a godly woman). "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised" [verse 30].
9. She is a woman of great grace (honorable) and this, is known by all. "A gracious woman retaineth honour" [Proverbs 11:16].
"Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." [These are the daughters of Sarah verses 25,26, 28, 29].
Please remember these attributes. These are the marks of the most beautiful woman. If you are a saved woman (or a saved girl), you are a daughter of Sarah! You are the most beautiful woman.
Take courage! "Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement."
The differences between the most beautiful woman and the most ugly woman, is as stark as the contrast between the brightest of days and the darkest of nights. What the first man and the first woman lost nearly six thousand years ago (through sin) has been restored through the precious blood of the Lamb of God, even by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by what He did on Mt. Calvary almost two thousand years ago.
In Ephesians chapter 5, the Holy Ghost provides the crowning explanation of the great New Testament mystery of Christ and the church, by using the husband and wife relationship. You just can't miss it! It is so clear to the Bible believer. Jesus Christ clearly holds that His church is the most beautiful woman in all, the universe (the church is likened to a woman). "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish" [Ephesians 5:25-27].
Men, what a treat! As husbands of your own wives, please "get a grip" on this! If you have a Bible-believing woman (a Christian) for your wife, rejoice!!!
Never take her for granted! Be thankful!!!
Praise her and tenderly let her know that she is the most beautiful woman in the world.
She is a daughter of Sarah! And if she is not a believer (and is not saved), please remember this: "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins" [Proverbs 10:12].
Apply this diligently, and believe the scripture concerning I Corinthians 7:14b; "the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband." Remember!!! "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life" [Proverbs 13:12].
The Christian wife is the daughter of Sarah and she shines forth as a very great gift in a man's life absolutely marvelous, and so beautiful to the eyes. Wo-man "because she was taken out of man," called to be along his side, for she was taken out from his side. "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD" [Proverbs 18:22].
