The Gospel of JohnBehold the Lamb of God!

John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!"

The first mention of God providing a lamb for a burnt offering in atonement for sin is on Mount Moriah.

In Genesis 22:7-8: Issac asked his father Abraham, "Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

[THE FIRST ADVENT FORETOLD]

Now, let's continue with verse nine: “And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah'jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.” [Genesis 22:9-14]

Jehovah'jireh:

God will provide himself a lamb!

Zoom ahead in time! One lamb out of the flock, of the fat pastures of Israel, in a future theocratic Kingdom of Heaven [THE SECOND ADVENT] will be for a meat offering, and for peace offerings, to make reconciliation for them according to the prophecy given in the book of Ezekiel.

It will happen, friend. The BOOK says it will.

In the millennial kingdom [one thousand years] [THE MILLENNIUM] … in the times of regeneration the earth will see the return of Jewish temple offerings.

[Ezekiel 45:15] “And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make reconciliation for them, saith the Lord God.”

Israel will be made to remember their failure to recognize The Lamb of God when he came the first time to this earth [THE FIRST ADVENT].

Are you ready?

Behold the Lamb of God! Behold the Lamb of God!!!

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Israel will once again offer up sacrifices in a one thousand year kingdom … in remembrance of “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

They will proclaim from their lips with their voice: Behold the Lamb of God! after they look upon him whom they have pierced. The proof text is found in Zechariah 12:10. “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

Ah, yes, they all [Israel] will mourn for him in the future, as we all [Gentiles] should be drawn to him [Jesus Christ] now. Whether then, or now, Jesus Christ draws all men, women and children to himself. “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” [John 12:32]

For those who reject the SON during the Great Tribulation soon coming to this earth, there will be a reward! A reward they’d wish they never received. [It would have been better for them to have kissed the SON and put their trust in him.] “Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” [Psalm 2:12]

Now, here is the [soon coming] scene in Revelation 14:9-10 where the unbelievers in this world get their just reward … in the presence of THE LAMB. “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.”

That is not all! Just as there was a group of men who gathered with David to the cave Adullam in 1 Samuel 22:1, [“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.”], there is a group that has been gathering to Jesus Christ throughout this age, [THE CHURCH AGE].

“And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.” [Revellation 15:3]

So there we have it:

1. A plea! If you are not saved: Behold the Lamb of God! “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” [2 Corinthians 6:1-2]

2. If you are saved: Behold the Lamb of God! Revel in his presence.

3. If you refuse to come to him to be saved, then some time in the near future, you will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the very presence of the LAMB.
    a. [In The Presence of]: Tormented
    b. Then [From: The Presence of] Forever in HELL FIRE! “Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” [2 Thessalonians 1:9]

4. If you are saved, then a day will come that you will witness a mighty throng singing the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”

This will be in the presence of the LORD. [1 Thessalonians 2:19] [In The Presence of] “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”

This is that John who bore this witness: “This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.”

[This is John acknowledging that Jesus Christ is GOD.]

This then, is John the Baptist testifying that Jesus Christ is the LAMB of God, who was to come into the world. Read it again, in verse 36: “And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!”

Behold the Lamb of God! Jehovah'jireh! Amen! Amen! Amen!
