The Great Train
John 1:37 "And the two disciples heard
him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38
Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith
unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi,
(which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where
dwellest thou?
39 He saith unto
them, Come and see. They came and saw where he
dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about
the tenth hour.
40 One of the
two which heard John speak, and followed him, was
Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
41
He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith
unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being
interpreted, the Christ.
42 And
he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him,
he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt
be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A
stone.
43 The day following
Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth
Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of
Andrew and Peter.
45 Philip
findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found
him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did
write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can
there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip
saith unto him, Come and see.
47
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him,
Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence
knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him,
Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under
the fig tree, I saw thee.
49
Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou
art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto
him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the
fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater
things than these.
51 And he
saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels
of God ascending and descending upon the Son of
man."
The Locomotive
Two thousand years ago a locomotive with one car begins to load up at the station with those who wish to find passage to their chosen destination. These are the passengers! They have heard the voice of the conductor yell: all aboard! They line up and get on aboard. As passengers they had chosen to recognize [through faith] the power and might, yea, the very capacity of the locomotive to carry them [its human load] to the desired destination.
The train has gotten longer down through the last years. The time is well nigh at hand when all who will ever come will have come. This train will soon arrive in a perfect time at the chosen location just before the Great Tribulation.
The Train
Now, let’s go back to John the Baptist. His ministry is now almost completed here on this earth, and is at its highest point. Here is John. He testifies of Jesus Christ … while pointing to him.
Verse 37: “And the two disciples heard him [JOHN] speak, and they followed Jesus.”
[John starts promoting THE TRAIN by pointing to Jesus Christ]
One of the two disciples that heard John was Andrew.
You can see this in verse 40: “One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.”
Andrew realized that Jesus Christ was the promised Messiah who was to come and save his people Israel. Now what is one to do if he were to find the Messias?
[See verse 41.] [THE MESSIAS which is, being interpreted, THE CHRIST]
The natural desire that springs up … is to tell others. Amen! Andrew “findeth his own brother Simon” and then he brings him to Jesus Christ. It is all about finding and bringing others to the SAVIOR. As SAVIOR he is the one who saves. Our part is to FIND others, and to bring others, to Jesus Christ.
Find and Bring. Find and Bring!
Concurrently, the Holy Spirit will be CONVICTING MEN of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.
[John 16:8-11] “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
There is something happening at the same time this work of the Holy Spirit is going on. Jesus Christ is drawing all men to himself. [John 12:32] “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
We need to find and bring others to him. Amen! God will convict and draw them.
They must come … and receive. [John 1:12] “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
These five things need to occur for a soul to come to Jesus Christ.
1. Finding and bringing.
2. Convicting of sin
3. Drawing
4. Coming
5. Receiving
Once we are on board the train we must now follow him. Look at verse 43: “The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.” "Follow me" he said.
Do you hear him friend?
If you are following him, then you are on the train! Yeah! Praise GOD, we are sitting on the GOSPEL TRAIN whose locomotive is THE SON of GOD … JESUS CHRIST!
Saved and Glory bound! Going to heaven ye church age saints! Praise his NAME!
